Fire Services Credit Union Publishes New Financial Guide
TORONTO, ON June 2011 — To help Fire Fighters and their families better understand and gain control of their finances, Fire Services Credit Union has released its new financial book, “The Bucket Coach”. The guide is designed to provide practical, easy-to-follow advice on dealing with household financial management including investments, credit and mortgages, and retirement.
“Fire Fighters are a unique group of people with a unique set of financial challenges, so we wanted to create a guide that served their specific needs,” said Kevin J. Connolly, CEO of Fire Services Credit Union.
“They and their families have more demands on their money than ever, including debts, mortgages and investments,” added Connolly, “so we wanted to show them how to handle all these different areas - or financial 'buckets' - in their lives.”
To better meet these needs, “The Bucket Coach” was developed with contributions from Fire Fighters. Included are tools to assess personal financial well-being and track expenses and savings. To make the information more entertaining, key points are presented through a cast of characters - Fire Fighter Rock Solid and family, the villainous Volatile and the helpful Coach.
“We created this super-family to represent Fire Fighters and their families, as well as an enemy and a Coach to overcome that enemy” said Connolly. “It makes it fun and it helps bring attention to the advice you won't find at other financial institutions”.
“The Bucket Coach” is available for free at both Fire Services Credit Union branches.
